Taking Screenshots in Mac OS X

There are several keyboard combinations that can be used to take screenshots in Mac OS X:

  • Command-Shift-3: Take a screenshot of the screen, and save it as a file on the desktop
  • Command-Shift-4, then select an area: Take a screenshot of an area and save it as a file on the desktop
  • Command-Shift-4, then space, then click a window: Take a screenshot of a window and save it as a file on the desktop
  • Command-Control-Shift-3: Take a screenshot of the screen, and save it to the clipboard
  • Command-Control-Shift-4, then select an area: Take a screenshot of an area and save it to the clipboard
  • Command-Control-Shift-4, then space, then click a window: Take a screenshot of a window and save it to the clipboard

List open ports on your machine

To show which processes are listening to which ports on a Linux machine you can use:

netstat -atp | grep -i "listen"

On Mac OS X you can use:

lsof -i | grep -i "listen" 

Stop Big Brother Google from spying you

Google are clearly gathering information about us but refuse to tell us why. They records everything they can. You can limit this by turning off search history personalization:

  1. Go to https://www.google.com/history
  2. Click “remove all Web History.”
  3. Click “ok.”

Note that removing your Web History also pauses it. Web History will remain off until you enable it again.

Venice

I visited beautiful Venice in February. I love those canals, gondolas and tourist atmospheric. I flew to Treviso Airport and I took ATVO bus to the Piazzale Rome in Venice. In Venice I used ACTV buses and waterbuses “vaporetto” which run frequently.

Venice is unique and definitely worth the visit. In Venice I found numerous attractions like basilica and piazza of San Marco, the Grand Canal, the Lido di Venezia which butiful beach.

Notte Bianca is all-night cultural event organised in many countries around the world. During Notte Bianca museums, historical buildings, art galleries, and other cultural institutions are open free of charge. I am a lover of military history so I decided to visit the National War Museum.

Badger Karting in Ta’ Quali

Yesterday I took 5th place in gokart race. Event was organised by my co-workers. It was a very exciting race, and we really had a lot of fun expect few dangerouse accidents after hard-fought on track. Gokart race is a great team building opportunity.

Disabling the Laptop TouchPad in Linux

If you have attached an external mouse to your laptop, you may not need touchpad which may be accidentally touch. I’ve made a short script to disable and enable the touchpad.
